BEDFORD – The Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence County has promoted longtime staff member Kara Mathews to Area Club Director, expanding her leadership role within the organization.
Mathews first joined the Club in 2015 as a Youth Development Professional. After gaining experience working directly with students and families, she returned in 2021 as Site Director at Shawswick Elementary. In 2022, she stepped into the role of Unit Director at the Limestone Unit, where she focused on building a positive, engaging environment for both staff and Club members.
In January, Mathews was promoted to Area Club Director. In her new role, she will continue leading the Limestone Unit while also overseeing the Shawswick and Dollens Elementary sites. The expanded position allows her to strengthen connections across multiple locations, foster collaboration among staff, and ensure that each site maintains a welcoming, supportive atmosphere for youth.
Frank Decker, chief professional officer of the Club, praised Mathews’ leadership and commitment to the organization’s mission.
