At approximately 2:00 p.m. on February 9th, Bedford Police received a complaint regarding an individual at NAPA Auto Parts on K Street. The complainant reported that a man wearing a camo vest and plaid shirt appeared “extremely intoxicated,” had urinated in the parking lot, and was unable to stand on his own.

Officer Bailey Duprey arrived on the scene and located Warapius behind the store’s dumpsters. According to the probable cause affidavit, the encounter revealed Warapius exhibited slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, and a strong odor of alcohol; his clothing was in disarray, and he had reportedly soiled himself.

Two bottles of vodka were found next to him, and an open bottle of Jim Beam whiskey was later discovered concealed inside one of his boots.

When ordered to stand, Warapius was reportedly so off-balance that he required assistance to avoid falling. Police noted that his demeanor fluctuated between cooperative and verbally aggressive once he was informed he was being placed under arrest.

Due to his level of intoxication, Warapius was transported to IU Health Bedford for medical clearance before being booked into the Lawrence County Jail.

Warapius was housed at the county jail on the following preliminary charge of public intoxication.
