BEDFORD — A Bedford man is facing multiple drug-related charges after a homeowner discovered him hiding in a backyard shed on Monday.
Jonathan C. Hostetter, 36, was taken into custody on February 9th after Bedford Police Department officers responded to a report of a trespasser at a residence on 16th Street.

Bedford Major Jeremy Bridges arrived at the scene and was directed by the homeowner to a shed at the rear of the property. Upon opening the door, Maj. Bridges discovered Hostetter standing inside, appearing to hide something.
During a sweep of the shed, officers located two loaded syringes on the floor exactly where Hostetter had been standing and various personal belongings belonging to the suspect.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Hostetter was read his Miranda rights and allegedly admitted that the syringes contained methamphetamine. He further claimed he was “selling them for someone.”
The situation escalated during transport to the Lawrence County Jail. While en route, Hostetter informed Officer Blackwell that he was concealing additional narcotics. Officers stopped the patrol vehicle and retrieved a small plastic bag containing a crystal substance hidden inside a hole in the hood of Hostetter’s jacket. The substance later field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
Hostetter was booked into the Lawrence County Jail on the following preliminary charges of possession of meth, unlawful possession of a syringe and trespassing.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This article is based on the information provided in the probable cause affidavit and does not represent a final determination of guilt or innocence.
