BEDFORD — A Bedford man is facing a new charge of invasion of privacy after allegedly sending a barrage of threatening text messages to a female just days after being released from jail.

Edwin Busch, 27, of the Continental Manor Apartments, is the subject of an arrest warrant requested by the Bedford Police Department following an investigation that began on January 27, 2026.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Officer Aaron Manke, the female victim reported that Edwin had been texting her “non-stop.” While the existing protective order allows communication regarding their shared child, the victim provided evidence that the recent messages were unrelated to parental matters.
The messages reportedly included when the victim addressed him by his middle name and told him to stop, he allegedly replied, “It’s Edwin,” confirming his identity. Edwin repeatedly demanded money be sent to his CashApp account, and one message allegedly stated, “Like I said, tell the chomo he’s a dead man walking.”
The affidavit notes that Edwin was previously served with the protective order in June 2025 and was arrested for a similar violation just one week later. The victim informed police that the current wave of harassment began on January 22, immediately following his most recent release from custody.
“Edwin is allowed to text Nicole when it comes to their shared child… however, the texts that he is sending her have nothing to do with their son,” the Affidavit for Probable Cause stated.
Officer Manke confirmed the validity of the protective order and submitted photos of the text messages as evidence. After unsuccessful attempts to reach Edwin by phone for an interview, police have requested that the court issue an arrest warrant.
Under Indiana law, invasion of privacy can be elevated to a felony if the defendant has a prior conviction for the same offense.
Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent until proven guilty through a fair and due legal process. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
