Oolitic Town Hall and Street Department announce new operating hours

OOLITIC  Following the January monthly council meeting, local officials have announced a shift in the operating schedule for both the Oolitic Town Hall and the Street Department. The Council approved the change to streamline operations while providing a consistent schedule for municipal employees.

Effective March 2, 2026, the new hours of operation will be:

Under this new structure, Town Hall will be open for 9 hours a day during the first four days of the week. This transition grants town employees a 2.5-day weekend year-round, a move intended to support staff work-life balance while maintaining reliable service to the community.

While physical office hours are changing, the town has ensured that residents still have access to essential services.

 For those unable to visit during business hours, the two after-hours dropboxes remain available for payments. These can be used anytime before 8:00 a.m. or after 5:00 p.m.

If an urgent matter arises outside of the new operating window, residents should call the main line at 812-275-6813. The voicemail system has been updated to provide the necessary contact numbers for after-hours emergencies.
