BEDFORD — A local man is facing multiple charges after allegedly crashing into a parked vehicle and attempting to flee from officers during the early hours of Saturday morning.
Parker Sorenson, 22, of Bedford, was taken into custody on January 24, 2026, following an incident on U Street that prompted a police response for a reported domestic disturbance.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Officer Sarah Haluda of the Bedford Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 700 block of U Street at approximately 4:00 a.m. A caller reported that a silver SUV had struck another vehicle while attempting to park.
Upon arrival, Officer Haluda observed a male, later identified as Sorenson, running away from a silver BMW SUV that was still running. Although Sorenson allegedly ignored commands to stop, he fell in a nearby yard at 713 U Street, where he was detained.
Police noted a strong odor of alcohol on Sorenson’s breath and person. Despite having the keys to the BMW in his hand, Sorenson reportedly refused to engage with officers, citing that he “did not consent to any searches or seizures.”
Further investigation revealed:
- Property Damage: The BMW operated by Sorenson was found resting against a trash can after striking a Dodge Nitro owned by a neighbor.
- Implied Consent: After being read the Indiana Implied Consent law multiple times, Sorenson reportedly failed to provide a clear answer, which was recorded as a refusal to undergo a chemical test.
- Witness Statements: The owner of the BMW, Kaley Corley, told police she was “unsure” of Sorenson’s last name despite him staying at her residence for two weeks. She claimed he was simply trying to move the vehicle out of the neighbor’s way.
Following the refusal of a breathalyzer, a search warrant for Sorenson’s blood was approved by Judge Gouty at 5:12 a.m. Sorenson was transported to IU Health Bedford Hospital, where samples were taken for the Indiana State Department of Toxicology.
Sorenson was medically cleared and subsequently booked into the Lawrence County Jail. He faces the preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and OWI endangerment.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This article is based on the information provided in the probable cause affidavit and does not represent a final determination of guilt or innocence.
