Vicki Rose (Cole) Woods, 63, of Indianapolis, passed from this earthly life on January 23, 2026, in Indianapolis.
She was born in Bloomington, Indiana on February 6, 1962, to the late Patricia Irene (Cooper) Cole and Gordon Ellis Cole (adopted & loved as his own). She attended Bedford North Lawrence High School. In 1982, she joined the Army National Guards. She was the only one in her unit to reach a perfect score on the final PT test an accomplishment she was always proud of.
On June 4, 1983 she married the love of her life Edward R. Woods and moved to Bloomington. They moved to New Jersey for four years while her husband was serving in the Air Force as an aircraft mechanic. She lived in Indianapolis for many years. Prior to that, she lived in Mooresville where she and her husband purchased their first home and raised their daughter. She retired from L.O.V.E (Learning Opportunities and Valuing Education) childcare in 2019 to stay at home and care for her mother-in-law Dorthea. She also previously worked at First Indiana Bank, Walmart and UPS. Vicki was also a proud member of Daughter’s of American Revolution, Mary Bryan Chapter.
Family was everything to her! She enjoyed music, all kinds from every genre imaginable! She attended many, many concerts; one being the last concert Elvis Presley performed in Indianapolis. Additionally, she loved to travel. One of her favorite travels was when the family went to Scotland to visit and stay in a castle that was from her ancestral background. A dream come true for her!
She will be missed and forever remembered by her family and friends including her loving husband Edward R. Woods, her daughter Heather Marie (Woods), son-in-law Jeffrey Calvin Martin II and grandson Maverick Calvin Martin, Camby, Indiana. Her brothers, Brian Conley (Arizona), Gordon W. Cole Jr. and Kenneth D. Cole (both in Bedford). Sisters; Teresa M. (Wayne) Roll and Karen D. Cole-Chastain (both in Bedford). Mother-in-law: Janice M. (Clements) Woods. She is also survived by aunts, uncles and many nieces and nephews all of whom she dearly loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon E. and Patricia I. Cole; and her son Kyle Edward Woods. Her biological father: whom she never knew; Charles Ray Wilson, her in-laws: Marvin Hofmann and Dorthea Saramay (Fletcher) Hofmann and Delbert Woods and many family members missed and loved but not listed.
Family and friends are invited to a service celebrating Vicki’s life at Cresthaven Funeral Home and Memory Gardens in Bedford, Indiana on Thursday January 29, 2026. Visitation will be from Noon to 2:00 p.m. followed immediately by the service. She will be laid to rest next to her son at Cresthaven Memory Gardens.
