BEDFORD – Bedford North Lawrence won three matches on the mat while conquering North Knox 39-24 during high school wrestling action on Thursday night.
Isaiah Johnson, Kody Covey and Reese Ritter all posted wins for the Stars in their regular-season finale.
Johnson carded his first victory at 126 pounds, clipping Ares Ramos 6-3 in a close decision. Covey pinned Tayevion Smith at 150, and Ritter clamped down Landyn Strange at 215.
”The guys all looked much better,” BNL coach Mike Branam said. “Everyone came out aggressive and controlled the match. Isaiah got his first win of the season, while Kody and Reese both walked away with dominant wins.
“Even the ones who came up a little short were wrestling well but got caught after making a small mistake. This was a nice way to wrap up our regular season. Now we take the next week and fine-tune things a bit more, get ready to make a postseason run.”
BNL will compete in the sectional at Bloomington North on Jan. 31.
