Austin man arrested for OWI after two-vehicle crash injures child, adult

SCOTTSBURG An Austin man faces felony charges following a serious two-vehicle collision Tuesday night north of Scottsburg that left a 7-year-old child and an adult hospitalized with severe injuries.

At approximately 8:30 p.m. on January 20, 2026, Indiana State Police Trooper Javis Roush responded to the intersection of US 31 and Marshfield Road. The investigation revealed that a silver Toyota Camry, driven by Jacob E. Boley, 25, of Austin, collided with a Buick passenger vehicle.

Both occupants of the Buick were wearing seatbelts at the time of the impact but sustained life-threatening injuries. A 7-year-old child was flown via air ambulance to Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville for emergency treatment. The adult driver was transported by Scott County EMS to the University of Louisville Hospital.

While the Scott County Sheriff’s Department managed the crash scene, Trooper Roush initiated a separate investigation into Boley’s sobriety based on observations made at the site. Boley was medically cleared at Norton Scott Hospital before being booked into the Scott County Jail at 11:12 p.m.

Boley is currently being held on several preliminary charges, including operating a vehicle while intoxicated, causing serious bodily injury, a Level 4 felony, OWI with a prior conviction, a Level 6 felony, and OWI endangerment, a Class A misdemeanor.

All charges are preliminary as the Scott County Prosecutor’s Office reviews the case for formal filing.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent until proven guilty through a fair and due legal process. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
