STATEHOUSE – A bill authored by State Rep. Shane Lindauer (R-Jasper) that would boost Indiana’s economy by giving indicatives to public contractors to utilize Indiana business resources recently passed the House Government and Regulatory Reform Committee.
House Bill 1226 would provide a price preference for a non-Indiana business that offers to provide supplies manufactured, assembled or produced in Indiana, helping the state’s economy by keeping production and jobs in Indiana.
Lindauer said the bill passed the committee with a unanimous vote, receiving bipartisan support.

“Rising tides lift all boats and supporting Hoosier jobs, businesses and our economy will lead to quality-of-life improvements in Indiana,” Lindauer said. “This is a commonsense piece of policy that would give a boost to local business. I am thrilled to see bipartisan support for this bill.”
HB 1226 would also provide an additional price preference for Indiana-based businesses that offer to provide supplies manufactured, assembled or produced in Indiana which currently only applies if two or more equal bids are submitted.
The bill now moves to the full House of Representatives for consideration. To learn more about this bill and follow session live, visit iga.in.gov.
