Major drug seizure following speeding stop on I-69

GRANT COUNTY – A routine traffic stop for speeding escalated into a significant narcotics bust on Friday morning, resulting in the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of a massive cache of illegal drugs and firearms.

Shortly after 11:30 a.m. on January 16, 2026, Senior Trooper Jesse Reason of the Indiana State Police was patrolling I-69 near the 270 mile-marker. Trooper Reason initiated a stop on a 2020 Jeep after observing the vehicle traveling above the posted speed limit.

Upon approaching the vehicle, Trooper Reason reported a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the interior. This prompted a thorough investigation of the vehicle and its four occupants.

The occupants were identified as three adults and one juvenile:

  • Jamir J. Dangerfield, 19, of Lincoln, IL
  • Leighanna E. Allbritton, 19, of Normal, IL
  • Aerius A. Crenshaw, 18, of Normal, IL
  • A juvenile male, whose identity is being withheld due to his age.

During a search of the Jeep, officers discovered an extensive variety of narcotics, drug paraphernalia, and firearms. The three adults were transported to the Grant County Jail, while the juvenile was remanded to the Muncie Juvenile Detention Center.

All four individuals face a litany of preliminary charges, including:

  • Level 2 Felonies: Dealing in Methamphetamine and Dealing in Cocaine.
  • Level 3 Felonies: Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Cocaine.
  • Additional Charges: Dealing in a Controlled Substance (Level 5 Felony), Dealing in Marijuana (Level 6 Felony), and various misdemeanor counts for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.

The Indiana State Police released preliminary weights for the substances recovered during the search. The sheer volume and variety of the drugs highlight the severity of the bust:

Marijuana3 Pounds
Cocaine46 Grams
Fentanyl34 Grams
Controlled Substances38 Grams

“The substances will be sent to the Indiana State Police Laboratory for an exact determination of weight and composition,” officials stated.
