MITCHELL — A Mitchell man was arrested Saturday after police responding to a domestic call discovered suspected methamphetamine and marijuana in his home, authorities said.

John Phillip Beyers III, 41, was taken into custody on Jan. 10 at a residence in the 400 block of West Burton Street, according to a probable cause affidavit filed by Officer Cody Grogan of the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department. Officer Garrett Jacobs assisted with the investigation.
Police were initially called for a verbal domestic disturbance involving Beyers and a family member. While responding, officers observed Beyers inside the home and requested emergency medical personnel to check on him due to reported seizures. During the evaluation, officers noticed items in the home that appeared to be illegal drugs.
With permission to search the residence, officers located three small baggies in a bathroom cabinet containing a white crystalline substance, which field tests confirmed as methamphetamine. Additional searches later revealed another methamphetamine substance and marijuana in a cigarette pack on the front porch.
The total weight of the methamphetamine found, including all bags, was approximately 11.59 grams, triggering a Level 4 felony enhancement under Indiana law. Beyers was transported to the Lawrence County Jail without incident.
Beyers faces charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana/hashish, both felonies.
Officers Cody Grogan and Garrett Jacobs handled the response, search, and arrest.
Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
