BEDFORD — A Bedford man was taken into custody following a confrontation with police at a local hotel on December 30, 2025, according to Bedford police officials.

Captain Dakoda Emmons reported that officers were called to the hotel lobby after Christopher James Norris, 33, requested law enforcement assistance but initially refused to explain the reason for the call. Upon arrival, Emmons said Norris exited the lobby and advanced toward officers while making threatening gestures.
“Despite verbal commands to show his hands and get on the ground, he continued advancing and attempted to disarm me,” Emmons said in the probable cause affidavit. He deployed his department-issued Taser twice before Norris complied and was placed in handcuffs.
Officers noted that Norris appeared intoxicated, with a strong odor of alcohol and bloodshot eyes. He was transported to IU Health Bedford for medical clearance due to his mental state, impairment, and Taser deployment. Hospital officials retained custody under emergency detention procedures.
During the incident, hotel staff reported that Norris had instructed them to hide prior to officers’ arrival and that multiple empty alcohol containers were found in his room.
Norris faces charges of resisting law enforcement by force, public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and attempted disarming of a law enforcement officer. Police have requested an arrest warrant, with bond to be set according to the court’s schedule.
Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
