BEDFORD— A Bedford man who was previously granted a suspended sentence for resisting law enforcement will now serve his time behind bars after failing to comply with the court’s terms of probation.
On January 8, 2026, Lawrence Superior Court II Judge Robert Cline sentenced 31-year-old Connor O. Morgan to 900 days in the Indiana Department of Correction. The ruling follows Morgan’s unsuccessful completion of a supervised probation program that was a key condition of his 2023 plea agreement.

The legal proceedings began on October 5, 2023, when Morgan pleaded guilty to resisting Law Enforcement, a Level 6 felony. Under the terms of a negotiated agreement with the State of Indiana, Morgan was originally handed a 910-day sentence.
At that time, the court fully suspended the prison sentence, instead ordering Morgan to serve 545 days on supervised probation. This arrangement was intended to give Morgan an opportunity for rehabilitation within the community rather than serving time in a state facility.
According to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office, Morgan’s probation was revoked after he repeatedly violated the court’s conditions. These violations included failing multiple drug screens and refusing to participate in and comply with court-ordered programs.

Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Arthur Pearcy emphasized that probation is a privilege conditioned on personal accountability, “The defendant was given an opportunity to avoid prison through a suspended plea agreement, conditioned on compliance with probation terms designed to promote accountability and rehabilitation. Unfortunately, he repeatedly violated those conditions… Probation is not optional, and when individuals choose not to follow the rules set by the court, there are consequences”.
Following the hearing, Judge Cline terminated Morgan’s probation unsuccessfully and ordered the execution of the 900-day prison term.
