Roe Elkins, 79 of Bedford passed away on January 10, 2026, at IU University Hospital in Indianapolis.
Roe was born in Bedford on February 23, 1946, to John G. and Nora Elkins. Roe married Anna Patton on April 20, 2025, and she survives.
Roe was in the grocery store business for 35 years, starting at Jay C, then with Thrifty Mart, and then opened Midtown Grocery in Bedford, after he worked 10 years for the City of Bedford as a driver for the TASC bus. Roe was a member of the Bedford Masonic Lodge #14.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Elkins of Bedford, two sons, Charlie (Susan) Elkins of Bedford, and Jim (Lori) Elkins of Bedford, two granddaughters, Jessica Elkins of Avon, and Alyssa Elkins of Bedford, one sister, Linda (Russell) Cox of Bedford, two brothers, John Elkins of Indianapolis, and Jack (Sharon) Elkins of Columbus.
Roe was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, Henrietta Fields, Becky Shoemaker, Virginia Sowders, Elizabeth Wilson, and Karen Merriman, two brothers, Bill Elkins, and Robert “Red” Elkins.
