Indiana State Police investigating double fatality in Linton

LINTON – Detectives from the Indiana State Police (ISP) Bloomington District are investigating a shooting that left two people dead in Linton late Sunday evening.

The investigation began at approximately 9:14 p.m. on January 11 after the Linton Police Department responded to a call at a residence in the area of 8th Street NW. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male and a female subject both suffering from fatal gunshot wounds.

The Linton Police Department requested the assistance of the Indiana State Police to lead the inquiry. Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators from the Bloomington District spent the overnight hours processing the scene.

While the specific circumstances surrounding the shooting have not yet been released, state police officials are seeking to reassure the local population. Based on the preliminary findings, the ISP Bloomington District advises that there is no ongoing threat to the Linton or Greene County community.

Autopsies for both individuals are pending to determine the official cause and manner of death. The names of the deceased are being withheld at this time pending notification of next of kin.
