Excessive speed lands Bedford woman in jail on OWI charge

BEDFORD A Bedford woman faces a misdemeanor drunk driving charge after she was caught speeding on Lincoln Avenue early Saturday morning with a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Trooper Cody R. Brown of the Indiana State Police, 30-year-old Mikayla M. Greene was taken into custody on January 3, 2026.

The incident began at approximately 12:50 a.m. while Trooper Brown was patrolling southbound on Lincoln Avenue near 10th Street. The officer observed a silver Chevrolet Cruze traveling at a high rate of speed, which he initially estimated at 43 mph.

Radar later confirmed the vehicle was traveling 45 mph in a 30 mph zone. Trooper Brown initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as Greene.

During the initial contact, the trooper reported several indicators of intoxication. Greene admitted to drinking prior to driving. A preliminary breath test at the scene showed a breath alcohol concentration of 0.149%.

Greene was read the Indiana Implied Consent Law and agreed to a certified chemical breath test at the Bedford Police Department. The certified test revealed an alcohol concentration of 0.161%.

Greene was arrested and transported to the Lawrence County Jail without further incident on charges of operating a vehicle with a blood-alcohol content of 0.15 or greater and was issued a citation for speed.
