Bedford man facing felony charges after traffic stop leads to drug discovery

BEDFORD A local man is facing multiple felony charges following a December traffic stop that uncovered a significant quantity of methamphetamine and evidence of drug dealing.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed by the Indiana State Police, 28-year-old Kaden Wilson of Bedford was taken into custody on December 9, 2025. The investigation began earlier that day when Lawrence County authorities were searching for Wilson in connection with a “leaving the scene” accident.

Trooper Chance Humphrey, working in plain clothes, observed Wilson at the Rosemont Motel carrying a backpack. After Wilson placed the bag in a vehicle and entered the passenger side, deputies initiated a traffic stop near M and 22nd Streets.

While Wilson was being detained for the initial accident, a Lawrence County K-9 unit performed an open-air sniff of the vehicle. After the K-9 alerted to the odor of controlled substances, a search of the vehicle and Wilson’s backpack revealed:

  • Approximately 19 grams of crystal methamphetamine
  • A digital scale
  • Three hypodermic syringes
  • Two plastic bags containing a white residue

Following his arrest, Wilson allegedly admitted to investigators that he was obtaining methamphetamine from a source in the Bloomington area. A subsequent consensual search of Wilson’s phone reportedly uncovered messages detailing the purchase of illegal drugs, as well as communications indicating Wilson was dealing drugs to others.

Wilson has been charged with the following offenses in Lawrence County: dealing meth, a Level 2 felony; possession of meth, a Level 4 felony; unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
