INDIANA — As the new year begins, the American Red Cross is warning that the regional blood supply is teetering on a critical shortage. Following a busy holiday season marked by severe winter weather and packed schedules, blood products are currently being distributed to hospitals faster than donations are coming in.

To combat this trend, the Red Cross has huddled up with NFL superstar Saquon Barkley for National Blood Donor Month. Their goal: to inspire Hoosiers to roll up their sleeves and ensure that lifesaving medical treatments are not delayed.
Score Big: Win a Trip to Super Bowl LX
In a high-stakes “thank you” for donors, the Red Cross and the NFL are offering a massive incentive. Anyone who comes to give blood or platelets from Jan. 1–25, 2026, will be automatically entered for a chance to win a trip for two to Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, California.
The Grand Prize Includes:
- Tickets to Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium.
- Entry to the official Super Bowl Experience and day-of in-stadium pregame activities.
- Round-trip airfare and three nights of hotel accommodations (Feb. 6–9, 2026).
- A $1,000 gift card for travel expenses.
“I gave blood once in college and that was the only time I had ever been asked… until the Red Cross reached out this fall,” said Saquon Barkley. “It only takes about an hour, and once you realize how much help it can bring—it’s a beautiful thing.”
