LINTON — A detective with the Linton Police Department has been stripped of his duties and placed on administrative leave following an arrest for driving while intoxicated on New Year’s Eve.
The Indiana State Police (ISP) took Detective Logan Hobbs into custody on the evening of December 31, 2025, after a concerned citizen reported seeing an impaired officer in a public drive-thru.

The incident began shortly before 6:30 p.m. when a caller contacted authorities to report a driver who appeared to be intoxicated. According to the report, the driver—later identified as Hobbs—was operating a marked Linton Police Department patrol vehicle while waiting in line at the local Taco Bell drive-thru.
Recognizing the sensitivity of the situation involving a member of the force, Linton Chief of Police Paul Clark was immediately dispatched to the scene. To ensure an impartial investigation, the department requested that the Indiana State Police take over the scene and handle the arrest.
Indiana State Police later conducted standardized field sobriety tests, which Hobbs failed. A chemical test later showed a reported blood alcohol concentration of 0.375, according to court documents.
Following the investigation by ISP, Hobbs was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (OWI) and OWI endangerment.
The Linton Police Department acted quickly following the arrest, confirming that Hobbs was placed on administrative leave effective immediately.
It remains unclear if Hobbs will face additional internal disciplinary actions or if the administrative leave is with or without pay. The Indiana State Police will continue to lead the criminal portion of the case, while the Linton Police Department conducts its own internal review.
