BEDFORD — A local woman is facing felony charges after allegedly striking a detective during the execution of a search warrant on New Year’s Eve.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Deputy Braydon Letsinger of the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, 24-year-old Tayler Rasor was arrested on December 31, 2025, following a chaotic scene at a residence on 15th Street.

The incident began when several units from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the 800 block of 15th Street to assist the Indiana State Police with a search warrant for a wanted male. Upon arrival, officers observed Rasor and a male companion exiting the apartment in a Chevy Silverado.
As officers moved to detain the pair, Rasor reportedly became “verbally combative” and refused orders to sit down. Despite multiple warnings to stop yelling, Rasor allegedly became increasingly belligerent and began “actively resisting” deputies.
The situation escalated as Detective M. Williams and Sergeant R. Compton attempted to secure Rasor against a patrol vehicle. According to court documents, Rasor allegedly struck Detective Williams in the genitals, causing him immediate pain and discomfort.
Officers had to assist Rasor to the ground twice for “both her and officer safety” due to her continued physical resistance.
Once placed in a patrol vehicle, Rasor reportedly attempted to kick the door, requiring two officers to physically upright her and secure her seatbelt.
The resistance reportedly continued once Rasor arrived at the jail. Deputy Letsinger noted that Rasor yelled and attempted to pull away from officers during the entire walk to the booking counter.
After attempting to kick backward off the counter, jail staff and deputies were forced to lower Rasor to the ground and place her in a WRAP restraining device. She remained in the restraint while being moved into the facility’s hallway.
Rasor is facing charges of battery against a public safety officer and disorderly conduct.
