Bedford Police arrest two following New Year’s Eve domestic dispute

BEDFORD A domestic dispute between cousins on New Year’s Eve resulted in the arrest of both the alleged attacker and the victim, after officers discovered the latter had an active nationwide warrant.

The Bedford Police Department responded to a call on December 31, 2025, regarding a battery at a local residence. Upon arrival, Officer Bailey Duprey located Arnold Jones, who was bleeding from a laceration inside his lower lip.

Jones reported that he was in the kitchen cooking a sausage patty when his cousin, Kaden Williams, 35, began an argument. According to witness statements, the dispute began when Jones told Williams he should be grateful for his mother’s help with his personal struggles.

Williams reportedly became aggressive, stating he was going to “smack” Jones before striking him in the mouth with a closed fist. Jones told police he did not retaliate and chose to call for emergency assistance instead.

When officers entered the home, Williams remained aggressive, reportedly taking up a combative posture and refusing to provide a statement to investigators.

“You didn’t even knock, dude?” Williams reportedly said to officers before being detained and advised of his Miranda rights. Williams repeatedly invoked his Fifth Amendment right to remain silent while being secured in a patrol vehicle.

While processing the scene, Bedford Dispatch notified officers that the complainant, Arnold Jones, was the subject of an active nationwide extradition warrant. Once the warrant was confirmed, Jones was also placed into custody.

Despite his arrest, Jones remained cooperative and completed a battery affidavit to pursue charges against his cousin.

Williams is facing a preliminary charge of battery resulting in moderate bodily injury. Jones remains in custody pending extradition on his outstanding warrant.
