Obituary: Margaret Mae “Peggy” Parsons

June 6, 1928 – December 28, 2025

Margaret Mae “Peggy” Parsons, 97, of Bedford, passed away at 6:29 pm on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at I.U. Health Bedford Hospital.

Born June 6, 1928, in Winchester, IN, she was the daughter of Glen Otho and Martha Rebecca (Hawkins) Chenoweth. She married Claude Edward Parsons on December 25, 1950, and he preceded her in death. She was a teacher in the North Lawrence Community School System for twenty-six years, most of those at Stalker Elementary. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Gillen Post #33 Auxiliary, the Elks Club, National Master Bridge Player, and Retired Teachers’ Association.

Survivors include two daughters, Rhonda (Pat) O’Brien, and Doreen (Duane) Embree, all of Bedford; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, James Chenoweth, and a sister, Jean Lindstaedt.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 5 th, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the hour of service on Monday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
