Suspect at large after Christmas Day pursuit in Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON – On 12/25/2025 at 4:41 pm, Deputies located a Black Chevy Equinox around South Rogers St. and South Rockport Road that had been reported stolen to the Bloomington Police Department the day prior.

Deputies attempted a traffic stop on the stolen Black Chevy Equinox, but the vehicle failed to yield, and a vehicle pursuit then began.

The pursuit traveled to the west side of Monroe County to the intersection of West Gifford and South Kirby Road. The Black Chevy Equinox went straight through the intersection and into the main entrance of the Monroe County Airport. The stolen vehicle drove through an interior security gate located near the control tower and proceeded onto the tarmac. The stolen vehicle exited airport property by driving through the fence along Kirby Road. The pursuit of the stolen vehicle continued as it entered Greene County.

After unsuccessful tire deflation device attempts, the pursuing Deputy lost visual of the Black Chevy Equinox, and the pursuit was terminated. Deputies ended up locating the stolen vehicle unoccupied behind a residence on East State Road 54 in Greene County. Officers utilized a BPD K9 to conduct a track for the suspect, but it was ultimately unsuccessful. BPD ended up towing the vehicle to further conduct their stolen vehicle investigation, as they had no suspects when it was stolen the day prior.

An update received from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office indicates that the suspect, whose image has been caught on several security cameras, including the Eastern Greene Fire Territory, and posted to various social media pages, may have stolen a Ford F250. The suspect may also be in possession of a firearm. The suspect is to be treated as armed and dangerous.

Authorities are asking anyone with information on the identity and location of the suspect, or if they have video footage, to email mbrowning@co.monroe.in.us.
