Obituary: Chris Hutchinson

August 27, 1981 – December 24, 2025

Born August 27, 1981, Chris Hutchinson, lovingly known as Bubby, came into this world and was given a bleak outlook by the many physicians who began his care. By the grace of God and the unending love and determination of his unwavering parents and caring sisters, Bubby defied all odds and conquered numerous health obstacles throughout his years. He was a 2000 graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School.

Bubby brought a joyous spirit wherever he went. He had numerous friends at his home church, Cornerstone Worship Center, where he attended regularly. He was well known throughout the town, especially at the Bedford Public Library, Goodwill, St. Vincent Thrift Store, and as many yard sales as he could beg his parents to find. He was a treasure hunter with a cold Pepsi in his hand, always on the hunt for his beloved Space Jam, iCarly, John Cena, and any puzzle or movie he could find.

Chris loved deeply and was his happiest when surrounded by his family, including his many nieces and nephews. According to the kids, “He loved hard.” He loved each of them and was always glad to see them —unless they got too close to his stuff at his special chair at the kitchen table.

To know Chris was to love him. In his own unique way, he showed the world how to be a kinder and gentler place. He touched the lives of so many and taught them how to love despite disabilities, be more compassionate, and be self-sacrificing as we love others. His impact on life has reached far beyond anything we could have imagined. What a gift heaven has gained.

Bubby leaves behind his parents, Kurt and Debbie Hutchinson; his sisters, Carrie (Aaron) Poole and Casey (Brett) Lemons; nephews, Gavyn, Jackson, Abe, Owen, Sam, John, and Charlie; nieces, Maggie, Lucy, and Allie; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, and his grandmother.

He was welcomed in heaven by his grandparents, Kenneth and Norma Hutchinson, and Frank Merry.

His time here with us was not enough, but we all have an eternal hope knowing he is with his Heavenly Father, and we eagerly await the day we see him healthy and whole in heaven.
