BEDFORD – A Bedford man was arrested on December 20, after a reported shoplifting incident led to the discovery of various narcotics and drug paraphernalia.
Bedford Police officers responded to a call at Dunham’s Sports on James Avenue regarding a suspicious male, identified as 43-year-old Nicholas A. Myers, who was reportedly concealing items in the store. Employees noted he had parked his silver Toyota Scion in a fire lane.

Upon arrival, officers observed Myers exiting the store and placing items into his vehicle. A store manager confirmed that several items, including a digital scale and camouflage clothing, had been taken without payment. The total value of the recovered stolen goods was approximately $114.99.
During a search of Myers’ person and vehicle, officers discovered several illegal substances and items including meth and fentanyl, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
Myers was taken into custody and transported to the Lawrence County Jail. He faces several preliminary charges, including possession of meth and a narcotic drug, theft with a prior conviction, and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Police noted that Myers has an extensive history of theft, with his most recent conviction occurring in April 2019. Under Indiana law, the prior conviction elevates the current shoplifting charge from a misdemeanor to a Level 6 felony.
