BEDFORD – Mayor Sam Craig has announced an update to the city’s holiday schedule following a federal executive order designating Christmas Eve and the day after Christmas as federal holidays for 2025.
To align with this federal observance, City of Bedford Offices will be closed starting Wednesday, December 24, through Friday, December 26, 2025. The city will resume regular business hours on Monday, December 29, 2025. Residents should take note of the following adjustments to municipal services, including trash collection and public transit.
Sanitation & Trash Collection Schedule
The holiday closure will impact residential and specialized trash routes. Please refer to the table below to see when your service will occur:
| Original Collection Date | New Collection Date |
| Wednesday, Dec. 24 (Trash) | Picked up as regularly scheduled |
| Wednesday, Dec. 24 (Recycle/Special) | Rescheduled to Monday, Dec. 29 |
| Thursday, Dec. 25 (Trash) | Rescheduled to Saturday, Dec. 27 |
| Thursday, Dec. 25 (Recycle/Special) | Rescheduled to Tuesday, Dec. 30 |
Residents are encouraged to have their trash bins curbside by their usual time on the adjusted dates to ensure collection.
TASC Bus Service
The Transit Authority of Stone City (TASC) will also be observing the holiday break.
- Buses will NOT run on Wednesday, Dec. 24, Thursday, Dec. 25, or Friday, Dec. 26.
- Regular TASC routes will resume on Monday, December 29, 2025.
Summary of Federal Impact
The closure follows an executive order issued by President Donald Trump on December 18, 2025. While Christmas Day is a permanent federal holiday, the 2025 order provides a one-time designation for December 24 and December 26 to allow for a continuous holiday period for government employees.
Mayor Craig and the City of Bedford wish all residents a safe and joyful holiday season.
