Jerry Scott ‘Scott’ Saunders, 59, of Springville, passed away December 10, 2025, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born on August 6, 1966, in Bedford, Indiana, to Sherry Hardin and Jerry Saunders. He married Sharon Patton on September 27, 1985, in Springville.
Scott was a member of Cornerstone Worship Center and worked as a Plant Manager for Polycor Inc. He was the proud founder of Limestone Capital Volleyball Club in 2006 and devoted 19 seasons as head volleyball coach at Bedford North Lawrence High School, followed by five seasons at Mitchell High School. He cherished motorcycle adventures with his buddies, but above all, his family was his greatest joy. He left a profound and lasting impact on the community, inspiring countless players not only in the game of volleyball but also with the valuable lessons he shared about life. His passion, kindness, and dedication touched the lives of everyone who knew him.
Surviving to cherish his memory is his wife, Sharon Saunders; daughter, Jeri (Jesse) Spires; parents, Sherry Hardin (John Lester) and Jerry (Robin) Saunders; sister, Gina (Brad) Seitzinger; grandchildren, Kayne and Hayden Spires; brothers-in-law, Kevin Patton (Shannon) and Kenny (Dawn) Patton; and nieces and nephews, Scotty Roberts, Danielle Daugherty, Josh Patton, Justin Patton, Tiffany Patton, Brandy Weddle, Zach Patton, Britain Patton, and Brogan Patton.
Scott was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Roger Patton; mother-in-law, Sue Patton; and brother-in-law, Dwight Patton.
A celebration of life service will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 21, 2025, with visitation to follow from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., all at the Mitchell High School Gymnasium, 1000 W. Bishop Blvd., Mitchell, IN 47446.
In honor of Scott’s life, past team members and fans are encouraged to wear your respected teams spirit wear.
