BEDFORD — The White River Humane Society is offering financial assistance to help Lawrence County residents spay or neuter their pets as part of an effort to reduce pet overpopulation.

Through a grant from the Smithville Charitable Foundation, the humane society is providing vouchers worth $50 per animal to offset the cost of spay or neuter procedures. The program is limited to two vouchers per household.
Applicants must provide proof of residency in Lawrence County. In addition, a veterinary appointment must be scheduled within 30 days before picking up a voucher. The vouchers cannot be used as deposits for veterinary services.
The initiative aims to address the shortage of available homes for pets and promote the health and safety of animals in the community.
Residents interested in the program can visit the White River Humane Society during regular business hours, call 812-279-2457, or email wrhsmgt@gmail.com for more information.
