Murder suspect captured in Greene County

INDIANA Bryan Pedigo, 54, who was apprehended in a multi-county chase facilitated by license plate reader technology, has been officially charged by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office in the fatal attack on his parents last week.

Pedigo is now formally charged with murder in connection with the death of his 81-year-old father, John Lloyd Pedigo.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident on Friday, December 12, on State Road 57 near Wagler Racetrack in Greene County after local law enforcement, aided by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office’s Flock camera network, tracked his vehicle nearly 90 miles from the Indianapolis crime scene.

The arrest followed a frantic search after police responded to a domestic incident at the family’s home on the 2100 block of South Catherwood Avenue on Thursday, December 11.

Police found John Pedigo deceased and his wife (the suspect’s mother) severely injured inside the residence on Thursday afternoon.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office was instrumental in the capture after their Flock cameras near Lyons successfully identified Pedigo’s vehicle, allowing Indiana State Police and Conservation Officers to swiftly locate and stop him.

The traffic stop also led to an investigation by Indiana State Police for an operating a vehicle while intoxicated charge in Greene County.

Pedigo has a documented history of substance abuse and violence. Marion County public records show an extensive criminal history, including previous charges for domestic battery, public intoxication, and drug possession.

Pedigo’s mother, who sustained traumatic injuries in the attack, has been reported as being in a serious, but stable, condition. She remains hospitalized.

The motive behind the shootings is still unknown.

Pedigo is currently being held at the Marion County Criminal Justice Campus.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent until proven guilty through a fair and due legal process. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
