Woman arrested for alleged threatening to bomb Monroe County Emergency Dispatch Center

BLOOMINGTON—Bloomington Police have arrested a local woman after she allegedly called the department claiming she would kill people and planned to attack the Monroe County Central Emergency Dispatch Center with an explosive device.

The incident began on Tuesday, December 9, at approximately 1:05 p.m., when the Bloomington Police Department (BPD) Records Division received a threatening phone call. The caller, who did not identify herself, allegedly stated that she intended to kill people and launch an explosive device into the Dispatch Center before hanging up.

Moments later, the same woman reportedly called the Records Division again, this time demanding that the Dispatch Center be evacuated.

BPD officers were immediately dispatched to the Emergency Dispatch Center to conduct a safety check of the area while a detective began a rapid investigation to identify the caller.

Investigators quickly determined the phone number was associated with Star L. Bragg, 49. Detectives located Bragg shortly thereafter at her residence in the 1100 block of North Crescent Road, where she was taken into custody without incident.

Following an interview with investigators, Bragg was transported to the Monroe County Jail and formally charged with intimidation, a Level 6 felony.

The quick response by the BPD ensured the safety of the Dispatch Center staff and allowed officers to locate and apprehend the suspect swiftly.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent until proven guilty through a fair and due legal process. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
