Shirley Stroud, 90, of Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Stonebridge Health Campus.
Born March 2, 1935, in Seymour, IN, she was the daughter of Emil and Agnes (Schrader) Helmbrecht. She married Lavere Dean Stroud on November 10, 1956, and he preceded her in death on October 11, 2003. She was a bookkeeper for Mullis Petroleum for five years and for Lawrence County Beverage for 21 1/2 years. She was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two sons, Scott Stroud and wife, Laura, of Bedford, and David Stroud and partner, Dwayne Holloway, of Raleigh, NC; a daughter, Sherri Stroud, of Bedford; a grandson, Ryan Stroud and wife, Barbara, of Indianapolis; a granddaughter, Jami Stroud, of MN; three great-grandchildren, Darcy, Lauryn and Henry Stroud, all of Indianapolis; a brother, Randall Helmbrecht and wife, Linda, of Seymour.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lavere Stroud, a brother, Robert Helmbrecht, and a half-sister, Donna Holley.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, December 15th, at Mt. Olive Cemetery with Pastor Grant Sorenson officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made in Shirley’s memory to the Calvary Lutheran Pre-school.
