MITCHELL– The Mitchell Police Department arrested a local man for alleged repeated violations of a protective order, leading to charges of stalking and invasion of privacy.
According to a Probable Cause Affidavit filed by Officer Cody Grogan, Ashton Beavers, 33, of Mitchell, was arrested on November 28.

The investigation began on October 18, 2025, when Officer Grogan was dispatched to the Dollar Tree located at 1306 West Main Street regarding a reported protective order violation.
The alleged female victim informed Officer Grogan that she had a standing protective order against Beavers. She stated that he had been driving by and calling her place of employment, allegedly swearing at her and the store manager.
The store manager corroborated the victim’s statement, confirming she had seen Beavers drive by the store multiple times and that he had called the store phone and used profanity. The caller ID provided the phone number used in the call.
Further evidence presented in the affidavit includes photos of Grogan’s white Ford pickup truck parked directly across the street from the Dollar Tree. The truck is registered to Beavers.
On October 20, 2025, Officer Grogan attempted to call the numbers identified from the Dollar Tree caller ID. One of the numbers later called the officer back and hung up immediately.
In a subsequent text exchange, the person texting from that number initially denied knowing Beavers. However, after Officer Grogan mentioned that a Sheriff’s Deputy had recently spoken to Beavers at that number, the texter allegedly responded that they were family and that Beavers had “checked into rehab.” The officer confirmed with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department that Deputy Davis Miller had previously spoken with an individual identifying himself as Ashton Beavers at the same phone number on August 17, 2025.
Based on the investigation, Officer Grogan has requested a warrant for Ashton Beavers, who was later arrested.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This article is based on the information provided in the probable cause affidavit and does not represent a final determination of guilt or innocence.
