Loogootee announces parking restrictions and long-term road closure for holiday events

LOOGOOTEE — The City of Loogootee has issued an important notice regarding temporary parking restrictions and a long-term road closure to ensure public safety and smooth operation of upcoming holiday activities, including the annual Christmas parade.

To keep the route for the upcoming Christmas parade clear and safe for all participants and spectators, temporary “No Parking” restrictions will be in effect this Sunday.

No parking will be permitted on Sunday, December 7th, along the main parade route, which extends from U.S. 231 East to Church Street, and continues down to the St. John’s parking lot. The parade is scheduled to kick off at 6 p.m. this Sunday in Loogootee.

In addition to the parade-day restrictions, a section of Southeast 1st Street to the railroad tracks from Church Street is now closed and will remain shut down through the New Year as part of ongoing preparations for various holiday events and activities.

Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes and exercise caution when navigating the downtown area, particularly near the parade staging areas and the long-term closure on SE 1st Street. Residents are thanked in advance for their cooperation, which ensures a safe and festive holiday season for everyone.
