City of Bedford hiring part-time skilled maintenance technician

BEDFORD – The City of Bedford has announced an opening for a part-time skilled maintenance technician to assist with the maintenance of municipal properties. The position was posted on November 19.

The part-time role involves performing routine maintenance, light carpentry, and minor repairs on city-owned buildings and grounds to ensure they remain safe, clean, and functional. Essential duties include basic carpentry (building shelving, touch-up painting), minor plumbing (unclogging drains, toilet repairs), minor electrical tasks (replacing light fixtures), basic HVAC maintenance (changing filters), and snow/ice removal.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and proven experience in basic maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical systems. A valid driver’s license and clean driving record are also required. Physical requirements include the ability to lift to 50 lbs. and frequent standing, walking, bending, and climbing.

Regular working hours are 8:00 a.m. to Noon, with occasional overtime for emergencies.
