Concrete repair work underway on Stumphole Bridge over White River

BEDFORD Motorists traveling on Stumphole Bridge Road are advised to exercise caution as Lawrence County Highway crews are actively engaged in repairing the bridge over the White River

Highway Superintendent Brian Sowder reported that bridge crews are working to repair a deteriorating concrete wall on the structure.

“Crews noted the concrete was deteriorating and ordered wall forms to fix the problem,” Sowder stated, indicating a preemptive effort to maintain the bridge’s structural integrity.

Due to the nature of the repair work, drivers should be vigilant when crossing the bridge. Temporary concrete blocks have been placed on the bridge deck in the area where the work is being performed. The blocks are necessary to section off the repair zone and protect crews and the work.

Motorists are warned to be careful and reduce speed when navigating this section of Stumphole Bridge Road until the repairs are completed and the blocks are removed.
