Building boom spurs new addressing activity across Lawrence County

BEDFORD – Lawrence County’s building activity is on the rise, according to an update provided by Emergency Management Director Valerie Luchauer to the Commissioners on Tuesday morning. Luchauer reported a significant volume of work issuing new addresses for numerous new homes and developments across the county.

“Thought I would share some positive things that are happening in the county. We have been busy the last month in addressing a lot of new subdivisions and a lot of building activity in the county,” Luchauer stated.

The positive surge in construction is evident in several key areas that require new official addressing:

  • Gated Community: Over 30 new lots are being developed in a gated community between Bedford and Mitchell, signaling high-end residential growth.
  • Mitchell Housing: A significant new housing development is underway in Mitchell, stretching from the four-way stop back to the credit union, toward the railroad tracks.
  • Heltonville Improvements: Luchauer also noted a positive resolution for a resident in Heltonville who received permission to make substantial improvements to their lot, despite the lot’s location within the floodplain.
