Evelyn R. (Noel) Lockenour, 97, of Orange Park, FL, formerly of Bedford, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, at her home in Florida.
Born December 28, 1927, in Bloomington, she was the daughter of Herschel and Wanda Noel and grew up in Indiana alongside her brothers, Beryl and Loren Noel, all of whom preceded her in death. She married Vance Lockenour with whom she shared many years of marriage before his passing.
Throughout her life, Evelyn was known for her dedication to family, work, and community. She spent many years employed at the Edgewood Pharmacy, where she served customers with care and diligence. Later in her career, she worked at the Visteon Plant in Bedford. A woman of deep faith, Evelyn was a longtime member of Southland Church of Christ. Her involvement in the church reflected her values and provided a spiritual foundation that guided her throughout her life. Evelyn’s legacy lives on through her loving family.
She is survived by her sons, John Lockenour, of Port Orange, FL and Scott Lockenour (Kathy), of Linton, IN; her daughter, Karen Buss (Rick), of Orange Park, FL; grandson, Faran Lockenour and his partner, Amber Spicer, of Bloomfield, IN; granddaughter, Brittany Ellis (Chad), of Guam; great-granddaughter, Maggie Lockenour, of Bloomfield, IN.
Her memory will be cherished by those who knew and loved her. May it bring comfort to all who mourn her passing.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Bud Smith officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
