BEDFORD — Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested a Salem man on Tuesday after allegedly breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s home through a window.
Hayden Cooper, 30, was arrested on November 5, 2025, and booked into the Lawrence County Jail on a preliminary Level 6 Felony charge of residential entry.

The incident began when Lawrence County Dispatch received a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 900 block of Ridgedale Drive in Bedford. Upon investigation, Officer Kaden Flynn determined no physical contact had occurred, and the nature of the call was reclassified as a residential entry.
Dispatch advised that the suspect, identified as Hayden Cooper, was leaving the scene in a Dodge pickup truck equipped with a ladder rack. Officer Flynn quickly located a matching vehicle turning onto Glendale Way and conducted a felony-style traffic stop to detain the subject safely.
Cooper was placed in handcuffs and detained at the scene pending further investigation.
Officer Flynn spoke with the female victim at her home. She stated that she heard Cooper’s truck outside and tried to secure her house, but realized she had forgotten to close one window.
She alleged that Cooper broke the window screen and climbed through the window above her couch to gain entry into the living room. At the time, two of her young children, ages 5 and 3, were present in the home.
A female neighbor also told police that she observed Cooper inside the living room after hearing loud banging as he attempted to force his way in.
The victim stated that as soon as Cooper was inside, she immediately instructed him to leave, after which she retreated to a corner of her bedroom. She later walked outside, and Cooper reportedly followed her out of the residence.
The victim confirmed that Cooper had been her ex-boyfriend, had never lived at the residence, and did not have permission to enter her home. Although she stated nothing physical occurred, she reported that Cooper threatened to release private photos and videos of her because she no longer wanted contact with him.
After his Miranda Rights were read, Cooper requested an attorney, and all questioning ceased immediately.
Cooper was arrested on-site, and the vehicle he was driving, along with a dog that was with him, was secured by the police. The dog was then transported to the White River Humane Society for safekeeping.
