INDIANA – The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued a new series of safety recalls, affecting a wide range of vehicles, including luxury models, commercial trucks, SUVs, and RVs. The latest recalls address critical safety issues, including braking system failures, structural defects, and the risk of parts detaching while driving.
Luxury and High-End Vehicle Concerns
Significant safety notices impact several premium manufacturers:
- Mercedes-Benz: The 2025 AMG G 63 and G 580 are being recalled (25V711) due to a software issue that could cause a Loss of Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) functionality. Additionally, certain 2023-2024 Sprinter 2500 vans are recalled (25V725) due to an improperly reinforced frame member.
- BMW/MINI: A recall (25V717) affects various 2026 models, including the BMW 228i Gran Coupe, X1, X2, and MINI Countryman S All4, over a potentially damaged seat belt retractor that could prevent the seat belt from properly restraining an occupant in a crash.
- Maserati: The 2023-2025 Grecale and 2024-2025 GranCabrio/GranTurismo vehicles are being recalled (25V722) due to a federal safety standard violation involving missing headlight aim adjustment caps.
Ford Recalls Impacting SUVs and Trucks
Ford Motor Company issued multiple separate recalls covering popular models for various defects:
- Bronco: 2021-2023 Ford Bronco models are recalled (25V721) due to a loose bolt in the driver’s seat frame.
- SUVs/Trucks – Detaching Parts: A large recall (25V729) covers 2021-2023 F-150 pickups, 2021-2022 Expedition/Navigator, and certain 2022 F-250/350/450 SD trucks, where the moonroof wind deflector may detach and become a road hazard.
- F-150 Lightning: The 2022-2023 F-150 Lightning BEV trucks are being recalled (25V731) due to a potential issue with the rear lightbar, which may be inoperative, thereby reducing visibility.
- Explorer/Lincoln: 2025-2026 Ford Explorer and associated Lincoln models (Aviator, Corsair) are recalled (25V730) for windshield air bubbles that can obscure visibility.
Other Notable Recalls
- Tesla Cybertruck: The 2024 Tesla Cybertruck has been recalled (25V735) due to the optional Off-Road Light Bar potentially detaching and becoming a road hazard.
- Isuzu/Chevrolet Commercial Trucks: Several heavy-duty truck models, including the 2018-2026 Isuzu FTR/FVR and the 2018-2026 Chevrolet 6500XD/7500XD, are subject to a serious recall (25V719) where the axle stabilizer bracket may detach, potentially affecting vehicle control.
- RVs and Trailers: Recalls include the 2024-2026 Fleetwood Fortis/Holiday Rambler Invicta RVs (25V718) for a compartment latch issue, and the 2021 Forest River XLR Toy Hauler (25V727) because the fresh water tank may detach.
