ORANGE CO. — A Bloomington man is facing multiple drug-related charges after an Indiana State Police trooper conducted a traffic stop on Friday night in Orange County.

State Police arrested 35-year-old Zachery Edwards after a police K-9 unit alerted officers to the presence of illegal drugs within the vehicle Edwards was driving.
Following the dog’s alert, a search of the vehicle was conducted, which led to the discovery of a small amount of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
The situation escalated while Edwards was being processed at the Orange County jail. Officers found a second bag of suspected methamphetamine concealed on his person.
Edwards is now facing preliminary charges, including possession of meth in a penal facility, driving while driver’s license suspended with a prior conviction, operating a vehicle while never licensed, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent until proven guilty through a fair and due legal process. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
