Property Tax Deadline Alert: Fall installment due November 10th

BEDFORD —Lawrence County property owners are reminded that the fall installment for property taxes is due on Monday, November 10, 2025.

In Indiana, property taxes are paid in two semi-annual installments. While the spring installment is generally due on May 10th (which was May 12th in 2025), the November 10th date marks the deadline for the second payment. Since November 10, 2025, is a weekday, the deadline remains unchanged.

Lawrence County Treasurer Penny Cobb emphasized the importance of timely payment, reminding residents that failure to receive a tax bill does not exempt taxpayers from the responsibility for payment and associated penalties.

Payment Options and Penalties

Payments must be submitted or postmarked by the November 10th deadline to be considered on time.

  • Penalties: Any unpaid balances after the due date will be subject to penalties, typically starting at 5% for the first 30 days of delinquency.

In-Person Payments

The Lawrence County Treasurer’s Office is open for in-person payments Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The office is located at 916 15th Street, Room 27, in the Bedford Courthouse.

  • Payments accepted: Cash, checks, or money orders.
  • Note: Bringing your tax statement will help expedite the in-person process.

Online and Phone Payments

Taxpayers can utilize external services to pay with a credit or debit card, though a fee will apply for these methods (credit and debit card payments are not accepted in person):

Drop Box and Mail

  • Drop Box: A drop box is available outside the Treasurer’s office door. Payments must be placed in a sealed envelope along with the payment coupon and contact information.
  • Mailed Payments: Treasurer Cobb advises that payments sent by mail should be taken to the post office and officially postmarked with the date of mailing. Payments received after the deadline without a postmark of November 10th will be considered late. If a paid receipt is desired, a self-addressed stamped envelope must be included with the payment.
