Obituary: Vincent ‘Vince’ Paul King

February 20, 1950 – October 30, 2025

Vincent ‘Vince’ Paul King, 75, of Mitchell, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2025, at home surrounded by his family.

Born February 20, 1950, in Las Cruces, New Mexico, he was the son of Shelby Merle and Nehna (Hauser) King. He grew up on King’s Ridge with his four brothers. They were rambunctious boys who loved the outdoors – what a bond they had. Later, they were joined by two sisters.

Vince was a 1968 graduate of Mitchell High School and a member of Fairview Church of Christ. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and was employed by GM Powertrain, retiring in 2002 after 30 years of service. Vince loved listening to music, with Elvis being his favorite. He also had a love for motorcycles and working on computers.

In December 1970, he met Genia Smith, and they were married on June 19, 1971. They were blessed with 54 years of marriage. From that marriage, two precious children were born.

Surviving are his wife, Genia King of Mitchell; son, Brayden Paul (Kristen) King of Bedford; and daughter, Bethany Brooke (Mike Cox) New of Mitchell. Vince was a papaw to seven grandchildren: Landon, Leo, and Wylie New, Corinne and Payton Smith, Maddie, and Lilly King. His greatest joy in life was being their papaw. He is also survived by his brothers, Kent King of Mitchell and Randy (Debbie) King of Mitchell; his sisters, Tonya (Steve) Davis of Mitchell and Annette (Mike) Neely of Mitchell; his sister-in-law, Loretta King of Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews.

His parents and brothers, Gene and Tim King, preceded him in death.

Graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 4, at Mitchell Cemetery with Donnie Hall officiating.
