BEDFORD — A Bedford woman was taken into custody Monday afternoon following a report of a burglary in progress, where she allegedly entered a man’s garage, stole his clothing, and unlawfully entered his vehicle.
Miranda Rose Lane, 41, of Bedford, was arrested on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, including burglary, theft, trespass, and unlawful entry of a motor vehicle. She was placed in the custody of the Lawrence County Jail.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by Bedford Police Officer Michael Bell, police dispatch received a 911 call at approximately 1:48 p.m. on October 27, concerning an active burglary at a residence on Washington Avenue.
The male complainant told police that Miranda Lane was in his garage, stealing his belongings, had broken into his vehicle, and was wearing his clothes.
Officer Bell arrived on scene and met with the male caller, who advised that Lane had left the area on foot just prior to the officer’s arrival. She left wearing his khaki and orange jacket.
Officer Bell broadcast Lane’s description to other Bedford Police units, and she was located a short time later near the intersection of 19th and O Streets.
In a video-recorded statement, the male victim explained that he had just returned home from the store when he noticed his garage door was open. After taking some groceries inside, he returned to retrieve more and found Lane standing in his garage. He stated that Lane was wearing his clothes, and he instructed her to leave his property.
The situation escalated when Lane allegedly opened the front passenger side door of his 2019 black Ram 1500 truck and climbed inside, refusing to exit until the male physically removed her. He again instructed her to return his belongings and leave the property. When she refused to leave, he sought help from her family members next door, during which time Lane fled the scene.
Officer Ratcliff transported Lane back to the scene, where the khaki and orange jacket was removed from her person.
During the investigation, officers also found a pile of Lane’s belongings in the male caller’s driveway. Inside that pile, police recovered a dog collar with a tag bearing the male victim’s name and phone number, as well as a Red Authentic Collection “REDS” jacket, both of which the male had claimed ownership of. The recovered stolen items were photographed and returned to him.
Officers noted that to enter the man’s garage, Lane would have had to open a gate and enter a fenced-in area of his property, supporting the trespass and burglary charges.
After being advised of her rights, Lane declined to provide a statement. She was then officially trespassed from the male’s property and transported to jail.
