BLOOMINGTON – The holiday season will officially kick off in Bloomington with the annual Holiday Market at Showers Common on Saturday, November 29th. The event invites the community to shop local, enjoy seasonal music, and partake in festive family activities.

The market will feature a wide array of goods perfect for holiday gifting, including locally grown farm products and unique arts and fine crafts created by local artisans. Shoppers can browse while enjoying the festive atmosphere and seasonal music.
The market offers fun for the whole family:

- Letters to Santa: Children will have a special station to write and send their wish lists directly to Santa Claus.
- Family Photo Booth: A dedicated photo booth will be available for families to snap a photo for their annual holiday cards.
The Holiday Market will be held at Showers Common, 401 N Morton St, and will run from morning through late afternoon.
Organizers are calling for volunteers to help make the event a success. Ten volunteers are needed per shift on the busy Saturday after Thanksgiving. Interested individuals should confirm they will be in town that weekend before committing.
Available shifts are:
- Shift #1: 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
- Shift #2: 12:30 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Volunteer duties include assisting with setup and teardown, staffing the information tent and artist booths, running the participant raffle and Letters to Santa stations, and helping with participant surveys.
All volunteers must be 16 years of age or older. Those under 18 must have an Underage Waiver of Liability signed by a parent or guardian and bring the signed form when they check in. On-site training will be provided. Sign up to volunteer here.
Volunteers are reminded that November temperatures in Bloomington can be pretty low, with average market temperatures historically in the 20s. All volunteers are strongly advised to dress warmly.
All volunteers should check in at the designated tent set up outside the entrance of City Hall at Showers Common.
