Milk named official beverage of Indiana high School athletics in new partnership

INDIANA—The American Dairy Association Indiana, Inc. (ADAI) and the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) have announced a new three-year partnership that establishes milk as the official beverage for high school athletics in Indiana.

The goal of the agreement is to promote milk as a recovery drink and an “effective fuel” or student-athletes. Milk is highlighted as a science-backed way to refuel, build muscle, hydrate, and strengthen bones, providing 13 essential nutrients, including calcium, vitamin D, protein, carbohydrates, and electrolytes.

Key Partnership Initiatives

The three-year agreement will feature several key initiatives to bring the “Winners Drink Milk” message to athletes across the state:

  • Celebratory Milk: Indiana dairy farmers and their families will present celebratory milk to the winners at all state championships.
  • Educational Materials: Resources will be distributed to all IHSAA high schools to promote the benefits of milk as a recovery drink.
  • “Winners Drink Milk” Posters: Exclusive posters will be featured in schools.
