HELTONVILLE — A dispute over cleaning tasks escalated into a physical domestic incident and property damage in Heltonville on Sunday afternoon, leading to the arrest of a 24-year-old woman.

On October 12, at approximately 4:10 p.m., Officer Augustus Hogan was dispatched to a report of a domestic verbal incident where the caller stated Curren was “throwing objects and acting erratically.”
Upon arrival, Officer Hogan contacted the caller. Officer Hogan observed the caller holding a towel to the right side of her face, as if treating an injury. The caller reported that Jaiden Curren had struck her in the face, damaged property, and then fled the residence on foot, heading north.
Officer Hogan advised Dispatch to upgrade the call to a domestic physical incident and began searching for the suspect.
While searching the area, Officer Hogan encountered Curren at a nearby gas station, recognizing her from prior interactions. Curren stated that an argument had begun while she and the victim were cleaning the house, prompting her to leave. She denied that any physical contact had occurred. Curren was detained.
Upon returning to the residence to speak further with the victim, who provided a detailed account of the events. The victim claimed the argument started when she told Curren, who was sitting on a mattress, to hurry up and help clean.
The victim alleged that Curren cursed at the victim before slamming a mirror onto the floor and breaking it. Curren then allegedly entered the kitchen, threw the victim’s phone to the floor, shattering the screen, and swept all items off the kitchen island.
The victim then claimed the altercation turned physical when Curren “got in her face, grabbed her by the hair, and struck her on the right side of the face two to three times.” The victim completed a signed domestic battery affidavit.
Officer Hogan read Curren her Miranda rights. Curren admitted to getting upset and breaking the mirror and the phone, but she continued to deny striking the victim.
Sgt. Robin Compton arrived to assist and photographed the damaged property, including the shattered mirror and phone.
Curren was transported to the Lawrence County Jail.
