COLUMBUS — A 19-year-old Columbus resident was pronounced dead following a single-vehicle motorcycle crash reported Saturday morning.
The incident occurred near State Street and Fairview Drive. Officials with the Columbus Police Department received the initial call regarding a possible accident around 8:1.3 a.m. Saturday.
Upon arrival, officers located a 2009 Suzuki motorcycle and its driver, identified as Isai Quintana-Solis, 19.
The Columbus Police Department stated that the motorcycle left the roadway “some time before it was discovered Saturday morning.” The precise timing and reason for the bike leaving the roadway are still under investigation.
The Bartholomew County Coroner’s Office determined the cause of death was blunt force trauma, and the manner of death has been ruled accidental. Toxicology testing is currently pending to determine if any factors were involved in the crash.
An accident reconstruction team from the Columbus Police Department and the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the ongoing investigation to piece together the events leading up to the fatal incident.
