February 25, 1959 – October 4, 2025
Isaac ‘Rene’ Tuttle of Shoals passed away at Deaconess (Midtown) Hospital in Evansville on October 4, 2025. He had been sick with cancer for several years. He fell in his yard last week, and a close neighbor found him and called 911.
Rene was born February 24, 1959, to parents, Martha Tuttle and Gerald “Gene” Franklin. His grandparents were Emanuel and Elva (Townsend) Tuttle, and Russell and Mary Alice (Sims) Franklin. Rene was an only child and never married.
Rene was a 1977 graduate of Shoals High School. He was fun-loving, artistic, and loyal. He had the voice of a radio announcer. Although he was never in that profession, he used his voice to tell and retell the stories of old, handed down by his elders, which captivated many.
Rene, like his mother, loved NASCAR racing and looked forward to visiting his cousin, Donna, and her husband, Tom Birdsong, at their home in Brown County on Indy 500 race day. Rene loved being in the woods and enjoying the wildlife there.
Rene was employed at several places over the years, including CAAA, Schilli Trucking, the Shoals JayC store, and the American Legion posts in Jasper and Loogootee, Indiana.
His first cousins and their families survive Rene. Shirley (Larry) Stroud and Allen Tuttle, both of Shoals, David (Julie) Tuttle, of Mitchell, IN, Jean Melvin, Joan (Lanny) Banks of Bedford, IN, Donna (Tom) Birdsong, of Nashville, IN, Gregg Tuttle, of Indianapolis, IN, Bonnie Tuttle Edgecomb of Idaho, Shannon (Sonja) Davis, of Ellettsville, IN, and Michelle (Tim) Wade of Loveland, OH.
Preceding Rene in death were his parents, both sets of grandparents, his aunt Jane (Franklin) (Don) Davis, Tuttle uncles, Pershing, James, Harding, Isaac, and Emanuel Jr., plus two first cousins, Dwight and Cary Tuttle.
Cremation was chosen, and his cremains will be entered at the Hindostan Methodist Church Cemetery, on State Road 550, at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Queen-Lee Chapel, George Funeral Care, LLC, in Shoals, Indiana.
