WASHINGTON CO. — The murder trial for Dejaune Anderson, a woman accused of killing her 5-year-old son, Cairo Ammar Jordan, and stuffing his body in a suitcase in Southern Indiana, has been rescheduled for early next year following a period of psychiatric treatment.

Anderson, who faces charges of murder, neglect of a dependent, and obstruction of justice, was recently declared competent to stand trial. Her original trial date, set to begin tomorrow, was vacated.
The new trial date has been set for January 6, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. in Washington County Circuit Court, with Judge Larry Medlock presiding.
Competency Restored Following Treatment
Judge Medlock confirmed that Anderson’s doctor certified her fitness to stand trial following psychiatric treatment at the Division of Mental Health and Addiction at Logansport State Hospital.
Anderson was previously declared incompetent after exhibiting erratic behavior, including identifying herself as “Princess Califia Hatun Tupac Bey II” and claiming surveillance by the U.S. Space Force and National Security Agency.
Case History

The case dates back to 2022, when a mushroom hunter discovered the body of 5-year-old Cairo Jordan stuffed inside a suitcase in a heavily wooded area near East Holder Road in Washington County, Indiana.
Anderson was apprehended by U.S. Marshals in California in April 2024, nearly two years after the incident. She remains in custody pending the upcoming proceedings.
